...making disciples of all nations

About Petal FBC

Petal FBC exists in order to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). A disciple could be defined as a person in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. So our desire is to help people come to know Christ as Savior and Lord and then to help them grow in their relationship with Him.

At Petal FBC, we understand that the church is not a building; the church is people. And Jesus’ command to make disciples is given to individual Christians as well as to the church as a whole. So our aim is to be faithful disciple makers as the church scattered and the church gathered.

As a church gathered together, we have identified three key areas as our focus in disciple making: worship, spiritual growth, and service. In terms of actions, we believe we are to be people who worship, grow, and serve. We believe that if people faithfully worship, grow, and serve, then they will be growing disciples and growing disciple makers.

WORSHIP: We provide weekly opportunities for people to gather together for worship. Our dress is casual. (But if you want to wear a coat and/or tie, go right ahead.) Our music is contemporary. (Which doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about hymns.) Our preaching is biblical. (What God says is far more important than anything we might dream up.) Pleaseclick here to see our weekly schedule.

GROW: We believe the best context for spiritual growth to occur is a small group of people who meet regularly for Bible study, prayer, ministry, and just to have a good time together. We call these groups small groups (aren’t we creative). We have small groups for all ages. See our age group pages for more information on small groups for children and youth. Click here for more information on adult small groups.

SERVE: We provide opportunities for people to serve on an ongoing basis through our Strategic Service Teams. Jesus said that even He did not come to be served, but to serve. We want to follow His example. Our service teams range from singing in the choir on Sunday mornings to helping cut the grass during the week. Click here for more information on how you can give of yourself through a Strategic Service Team.

We who make up Petal FBC are far from perfect, but we pray that God will use us to make a difference in people’s eternity. We invite you to come join us as we worship, grow, and serve together.
