The average child will spend over 1,000 hours every year in school and they will spend less than 50 hours
in church.  The average parent  has more than 10 times the opportunities to discuss spiritual issues in
one year than a church leader does in 10 years.  The church has limited potential to impact the heart of
your child.  WHAT HAPPENS AT HOME in many ways is more important than what happens at church.  So
we  appreciate you for allowing us to partner with you in seeking to maximize the spiritual development
of  your child.  We pledge to use the time we have with them as wisely as possible.  We know you
have a short window of time before your kid becomes a teenager and we believe there are 5 things a
   kid needs before they graduate:

    1. A really big God they can trust no matter what happens. We want to partner with you to help
your kid grow up knowing God is big enough to handle anything.

    2. Someone else who believes what they believe. The friends your children spend time with will
ultimately influence the decisions they make in life.

     3. Another voice saying the same things as their parents. Our leaders connect with your kids as
         friends and mentors.

     4. Uncommon sense to help them make wise choices. We make sure the Bible is never boring.
Each week kids walk away with one truth about God they can remember forever.

     5. Nosey parents who know where their kids are spiritually. We know that what happens at home
        is
more important than what happens at church, so we want to equip parents with tools to build
faith and character in their kids.

You can help by doing three things:

             1. Bring your kids to UpStreet every Sunday morning at 10:30.  They'll be with the same group of friends and the same
leaders every  week.  UpStreet is made up of three parts:  1)  a small group time at the beginning where the Small
Group leaders connect with the kids and introduce the subject for that week. 2)  large group time--for half an hour
the kids participate in worship with upbeat music and they hear the Bible story told in a way that kids will sit up and
take notice. 3)  then it's bacl to small group where the Bible story is reinforced through activities and discussion.

             2. Make KidMania a priority.  KidMania is our Wednesday night event that repeats the verse and virtue that kids are
introduced to on Sunday.  We have volunteers and staff every week creating  ideas, crafting environments and
coaching  kids to help them grow up the right way.  BUT WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!  Don't miss this window of
opportunity in your child's life to do something with them every week.  Remember, UpStreet and KidMania work
together to help you impact your child's spiritual life.

             3. Talk about it every week at home.  Remember, no one can have more influence on your child's faith than you can as a
                  parent.

  Host Team - Check In
You may be wondering where to go when you arrive on Sunday mornings. Outside of our UpStreet room, you will
find people ready to help you get to the right place.  Our host team volunteers will greet you, guide you through the
registration process, and personally escort you to your child's classroom.  They will be happy to answer any questions
you have about UpStreet and will make sure you have a map of the building so you can easily navigate the hallways
to find your child at the end of the hour.

   Why the Wait?
From time to time you may approach the UpStreet room and have to wait to enter.  Here's why: UpStreet does not
open until 10:15 AM.  This gives our leaders and workers time to gather and pray beforehand.

   Enrollment
If you decide to become a regular attendee or member of FBC Petal, we highly recommend that you enroll your child
in a permanent small group and make a commitment to attend the same hour of UpStreet every Sunday.  Once kids
are enrolled, they're able to form relationships with an adult leader and friendships with kids their age. To enroll your
child, please fill out the entire Registration form.  The forms are available at the Control Desk.
